Balsamic Candied Pecans

Yields one generous cup

Ingredients

1 cup pecan halves
1/4 cup brown sugar
1 tbsp extra-virgin olive oil
1 tbsp balsamic vinegar
coarse salt (optional)

Steps

Line a baking sheet with wax paper.
In a skillet large enough to hold pecans in a single layer, stir sugar, oil, and vinegar over medium heat until sugar melts and mixture begins to bubble, about 3 minutes.
Add pecans and stir to coat. Continue cooking 5-6 minutes until pecans are toasted and evenly covered with syrup.
Turn onto prepared baking sheet and sprinkle with salt (if desired). Use two forks to separate pecans.
Allow to cool completely.
If not serving immediately, store in an airtight container.
Try not to eat them all before serving to guests.
