Gobs (or Whoopee Pies)

Ingredients

2 cups sugar
1/2 cup Crisco shortening
2 eggs
4 cups flour
2 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 cup cocoa
1 cup buttermilk, or sour milk
1 tsp vanilla
1 cup boiling water

Steps

Preheat oven to 425 degrees.
Cream together sugar, Crisco shortening, and eggs.
In separate bowl, sift together flour, baking soda, baking powder, salt, and cocoa. Add to creamed sugar mixture.
Add buttermilk or sour milk, vanilla, and boiling water. Mix well.
Drop by tablespoonful onto cookie sheet. Leave room to spread.
Bake for 10 minutes. Cool.
Make sandwiches using two cookies and spreading with frosting.
